(Finished) Figure Categorization fMRI study

Would you be interested in getting images of your brain? Here's an opportunity for you!

I'm working in Dr. Ashby's lab and we are running an fMRI study to investigate how human categorizes figures. This study comprises of two pre-training sessions and one fMRI scan session. Participants will get paid for their time and efforts ($50 in total), and in addition to that, they will also get their own brain images after the fMRI scan!

If you are interested in participating, here's more information about the study:

1504 - Figure Categorization fMRI Pretraining - Paid ($20 for two sessions: 1hr/session×2 days)
1504 - Figure Categorization fMRI Study - Paid ($30 for 1.5hr)

Eligibility Requirements: Right-hander, aged between 20 and 40, do not have any metal implants in body, without claustrophobia, and have NOT participated in any studies using gabor stimuli (as the example shown here).

This study has been finished. Thank you for being interested!

1504 - Figure Categorization fMRI Pretraining

This study is a pre-training task for a paid brain imaging study "1504 - Figure Categorization fMRI Study - Paid". It consists of two sessions and is divided into two days, 1 hr per session on each day. Your task is to learn figure categorization on a computer. If you perform well in the pretraining, you will be invited to participate in the fMRI study.

Location: UCSB Psychology building, room 1504.
Time: Just pick an hour between 10am to 5pm for Monday and Tuesday
Eligibility Requirements: Right-hander, aged between 20 and 40, do not have any metal implants in body, without claustrophobia, have NOT participated in any studies using gabor stimuli (see an example here).

Please notice that:
1. Read about the fMRI study and be sure that you are available for the fMRI time slots. The pretraining and the fMRI scan have to be scheduled within the same week
2. Be sure that you can come two days in a row for the pretraining. Participants will be paid $20 after they've done the task on the second day of the pretraining.

1504 - Figure Categorization fMRI Study

Functional MRI (fMRI) is a non-invasive technique for indirectly measuring regional activity of the brain. It does not involve radiation. Participants who perform well in the "1504 - Figure Categorization fMRI Pretraining" study will be invited to participate in this fMRI study ($30/1.5hr plus extra bonus: you will get images of your own brain after you've done the study!)

To check your eligibility for participation:
1. Please see if you are available during the following dates and times for the fMRI scan: (no open slots for now). The pretraining and the fMRI scan have to be scheduled within the same week
2. For your safety, do make sure that you don't have any metal implants in your body by checking the metal screening form at http://www.bic.ucsb.edu/forms/BIC_MetalScreenv4.pdf
3. This study requires participants to be right-handers and aged between 20 and 40.

This study is approved by UCSB Brain Imaging Center (BIC) and will be conducted at BIC.
